FAQ
What can I list for sale on Labayk?
You can pretty much list anything you like – within reason. We are building a marketplace to help the most vulnerable people in the world, and something that is offensive to one community or a group of people may not be offensive to another community. As a general rule, the following are examples of items that may not be sold on Labayk: 1. Alcohol. 2. Tobacco products, smokeable products, e-cigarettes, and e-liquid. 3. Drugs and certain herbal substances, including substances used for recreational and medicinal purposes, regardless of their legality. We prohibit depictions of these substances in listing photos, as well as listings for instructions or materials intended to create such items. 4. Drug paraphernalia, including, for example: items with a carburetor; slides and/or items with a slide; bongs and bubblers; vaporisers and their components. 5. Medical drugs and regulated medical devices 6. Items making certain medical claims.
How much does it cost to list an item for sale on Labayk?
Listing items for sale is free for all users. When your item sells, Labayk keeps a flat 10% of the total sale price. Here is a breakdown: - To pay for the safe and secure card transaction fee. - To cover our operating and capital costs. - 100% of profits are donated to charities.
How do I get paid when my item sells?
Labayk partners with Stripe, so all transactions are secure. Stripe is one of the most secure systems for online payment in the world. Once a transaction is marked as delivered, your funds should transfer to your bank account within 3-7 business days. If you ever have questions, please feel free to [contact us](/p/feedback).
How does Stripe work?
When a Buyer orders an item, funds are not immediately processed. The Seller must accept or reject the order within 3 days. If he rejects it or does not reply within those 3 days, the order is automatically cancelled, and the Buyer's funds are automatically refunded. When the transaction is confirmed by the Seller, the payment is taken from the Buyer's account and **securely held** by our payment system Stripe for **14 days** from confirmation of transaction by the Seller. The Seller will not get his payment (and Labayk its fee) until the Buyer marks his order as completed in his account page, which has to be done only when the item is received, and everything is OK. If something is wrong with it, the Buyer should ask for a Dispute from his account (see Litigation between buyers and sellers in the FAQ below). If the Buyer does not complete the order and if no Dispute is created, both within those 14 days, then the payment is automatically processed by Stripe at the end of those 14 days. In case of the Buyer validation of the order or the Buyer not doing anything within these 14 days, the Seller will receive his payment (price + delivery fee) and Labayk its fee. If there is an issue with the transaction (delivery, product condition...) you can issue a Dispute - please see the "Litigation between buyers and sellers" section on this page. Disputes halt the transaction they are about for 90 days, which gives you all time to solve the issue with the other party. Remember, we can mediate a Dispute if you ask us to.
What should I do when someone offers to sell or buy an item outside of Labayk via cash, or another payment method?
Your support for Labayk means the world to us. Our mission is to help the most vulnerable in society. Our commission goes directly to making Labayk a better platform for our users. **Please remember that 100% of our profits go to charity.**
How do I know if the buyer has paid?
As soon as the buyer clicks on the "buy now" button on your listing, their card will be charged, and the funds will be put into a holding account. The funds transfer to the seller's account will not start until both buyer and seller have marked the item as "delivered". Please [contact us](/p/feedback) if you have any questions. We will respond as soon as possible.
What if there isn't a category for the item I'm trying to list?
If an item you want to list is not found within the categories we have, please feel free to submit it under the category it fits best or go with ‘other’. Please [contact us](/p/feedback) if you have questions.
Can I rate my experience of the transaction?
Following a transaction on Labayk, both Sellers and Buyers have the opportunity to rate each other using a 5-star system along with leaving a written comment. These ratings and comments cover various aspects such as the accuracy of the listing, packaging and shipping speed, and communication throughout the transaction. Reviews are publicly visible on each user's profile page, allowing others to gauge their reliability. Additionally, a seller's rating, including the percentage of positive ratings and total number of ratings, is displayed on each listing page. By maintaining politeness, accurately describing items, and ensuring proper packaging, you can earn high ratings and positive comments, thereby enhancing your reputation on Labayk. Remember, trustworthy profiles are more likely to attract sales opportunities. It's important to note that ratings should pertain solely to the associated transaction for accuracy and fairness.
